What's in a name?

Billy Shakespeare asked the question, “What's in a name?” in a blog post titled “Romeo and Juliet” some time ago. He explored the notion that names themselves are a convention to mark things or people, yet they do not have any worth or meaning. Well, Billy was wrong.

Point-Blank carries a lot of meaning, which is inherently contextual. The context for creating Point-Blank is simple:

  1. There is little useful content for early-stage startup builders: founders, operators, and their teams. Yet, the 0→1 stage of building a fast-growing company is when a start-up team needs all the help it can get.

  2. The content that is available isn't produced by ex-founders or ex-operators of early-stage companies; rather, generic, sometimes dubious advice applicable to most large companies is offered, mostly in the form of lists of obvious mantras or a long-form text or podcast.

  3. Combined, this leads to a waste of time - a precious resource in general - ever so valuable for start-ups launching their products.

So.

I am here to change that with Point-Blank, where I will strive to share only practical, actionable, and straightforward advice about the business side of running a startup. Honest and to the point.

I hope you will find it valuable as I am certain it will be a learning opportunity for you and for me.

That's what is in this name.

Cheers,

Dmitri
